"To be a Treasure Hunter does not take a special gift, but it does take the Father's heart of compassion to care enough about what is lost to do something about finding it." -Kevin Dedmon "The Ultimate Treasure Hunt" Page 33 While on the remote island of Vanua Levu, Fiji my team and I worked with a small YWAM base. One afternoon the base leader told our team to go on a “treasure hunt.” A treasure hunt is where you pray and ask God for specific clues to lead you as you evangelize. Well, I wasn't stoked to say the least. I had never found anything on my "treasure map" before and frankly I was not in the mood to talk to random strangers about Jesus. However, being the leader I tried to have a good attitude anyway. We each prayed individually. Immediately, I envisioned a man sitting criss-cross, under an overhang, next to a parking lot. I figured my mind had just wandered but I wrote it down anyway, and set off expecting nothing to come of it. After a 45 min walk into town, in the blazing Pacific sun, I saw him- the man sitting criss-cross, under the overhang, next to a gravel parking lot where the taxis wait. What a sight! I ran up to him and showed him my treasure map. He was just as shocked as I was and exclaimed that he now knew God had not forgotten him. He was a devout Muslim and my friend Thomas got the chance to preach the gospel to him and a group of his friends. After the sermonette, we got to pray for physical healing for each of them. They just kept coming! Muslim men, asking if Jesus Christ could heal their aches and pains- what a miracle! The Lord is always up to something. I don’t believe many things happen by chance. Be on the alert of who God places in your path today and keep your ears open to what He is speaking to you. Maybe a simple interaction with a random stranger could impact their life forever.
