I never thought that this lyric would imply the white sandy beaches of South Africa! I miss my family terribly, especially during this season. However, as much as I long to be home for the holidays, I feel truly blessed to be able to continue my journey through the Bible here with YWAM Muizenberg.
It's hard to believe that the first quarter of the School of Biblical Studies (SBS) is behind me! The past few months have been an incredibly stretching and challenging time. As many of you know, studying isn't my forte, yet God made a way for me to be here and continues to give me the grace I need day after day. I have never been so busy in my life and I cannot fathom ever being busier in the future. The rigor of this course has forced me to rely on Jesus in greater measures than I ever thought possible. So far, we have studied through 20 books of the Bible. You would think I would be burned out but strangely enough, it has left me hungrier than ever to know God's Word. Studying the Bible is such an amazing privilege that some believers would risk there lives to be able to do. I am blessed beyond measure and so grateful to be here! Along with my studies, I also had the opportunity to work at a "toy library," in a rough neighborhood nearby. This ministry gives children an opportunity to play with toys, which they otherwise wouldn't have. It also provides them with a nurturing place to go after school. Many of them come from families broken by drug abuse and gang activity, yet like any child they simply long for love and attention. It was such a pleasure to get to read books, color, build puzzles, and spend time with these precious children. For now, I am simply enjoying my break! I will be spending the holidays here in South Africa with some friends from SBS as well as a friend who is traveling all the way from Hawaii. Please keep me in your prayers as this is my first Christmas away from family. Also, pray that God would continue to give me the strength to study well. I have great anticipation for all God has in store for the coming months. I hope y'all have an amazing Christmas and a happy New Year! With Love, Sydney Priester

how wonderful to hear of all The Lord is doing through you! You are in our hearts and prayers. Jesus is The Great Connector, so we feel His Wonderful Presence joining us all as family, even across the miles.
