This week I got the opportunity to speak to middle schoolers at International Christian School (ICS). To be honest, I was a bit nervous. Most of my speaking experience has been overseas with a translator. I love having a translator because they can filter out any awkward comments I make, it cuts down on the amount of time I'm actually speaking and I can gather my thoughts while they translate. However, this time, that was not the case. It was just me, alone with a bunch of middle schoolers, for over an hour. I knew that I definately needed God's help or my message would tank. Thank goodness, He always comes through! I spoke about the freedom found in living for Christ. The Bible says so much to about it! These kids are at the age where they are just starting to gain more freedom. I want them to understand that Jesus loves freedom. In fact, He died for it! But we need to know to handle the freedom that is given to us. Everytime we get caught up in sin, we are actually choosing bondage. After the message, everyone seemed to have formed an understanding that we need to choose to walk in freedom by living a life of obedience to our Father in heaven. Where the spirit of the Lord is there is freedom! I never thought I would be able to speak in front of people but I guess with God all things really are possible! I am so thankful for the opportunity to practice speaking! I hope to continue improving! Galatians 5:13

Syd, this is such an encouraging topic to bring to Middle Schoolers! Immediately as I read through this post I thought "man, she would be such a great camp counselor". haha, but then I remembered that you will have your own camp someday in Africa. Hopefully you wont need a translator by then! Can't wait to see where God takes you.
